American Airgunners Are Lucky.
I got an email yesterday from a reader in the Philippines. His email was about his love of airgunning and the lack of quality airgun equipment and parts. He explained how he had to make his own match stocks from scrap hardwood that he found and tuned his locally made airguns with parts found in local auto parts stores. He describe the accuracy of his airguns as being able to shoot 6" groups at 20 meters and ended his email with a comment about how he would like to be born in his next life as an American so he could enjoy airgunning the way it should be.
That really got me to thinking how really lucky we are here in the USA to have such freedom to own and shoot high quality, high power airguns with very few restrictions. If an airgun here boasted of 6" groups it would sit on a shelf and collect dust, no one here would find that acceptable. Not only do we expect single hole groups at 10 yards, but we expect our airguns to shoot well over the power limits of most other coutries. Americans love more power and that is no exception with airguns. We don't have to deal with 12 ft. lbs. , 6 joule or any other arbitrary limits on the power of our airguns, nor should we. Most of these limits are set by know-it-alls in the socialist governments of other countries that don't know much about guns in general and airgun in particular. We are very fortunate to live in a country where the importing of quality airguns is still legal and not controlled or prevented by the government and I think we all take for granted how lucky we are that we have so much great equipment available to us everyday.
Perhaps as part of our exporting of democracy around the world we should get W and Condi to start promoting higher airgun power limits around the world and force countries closed to airgun import to open their markets. This can only make the lives of the general populace better. Lets start with the UK, Canada and Germany. Lets get their government to raise the power limits to 51 ft. lbs. for rifles and then open up closed markets to those new airguns and pretty soon, everyone will be shooting airguns and will be too busy to make war and love one another, lets give airguns a chance!

I pity my fellow Filipino airgunner who sent you that 6" group at 20 meters using his Philippine made airgun. Maybe he just don't know where to find the right stuffs here locally.
To mention, there are lots of high quality Philippine made airguns nowadays. We already have PCP powered airguns and we're even luckier by having a hot climate that CO2 powered airguns work well here in the Philippines. There are lots of local PCP makers now namely JBC from Valenzuela, Bulacan; Filarms from San Mateo, Rizal and Mario Muli's airguns from Pasig to mention a few. We also have good quality CO2 airguns from the south of Manila in Cebu City made by Joe Tugaon, Chris Cantal and Roger Andes, among others.
Just to mention, a few days ago I have my 5 shots 1/2 inch group using my JCB PCP powered airgun at 35 yards. I am not a good shooter but with this airgun I can shoot that group.
We can say we're behind American and UK made airguns but we're not that bad, maybe a few steps behind. You guys are just lucky to be able to buy any stuff you like in the internet but we have ways also of acquiring them although it takes longer days than yours. We buy thru friends or relatives there and have them carry those items we order like scopes, chrony's and mounts.
To my fellow Filipino Airgunner who wrote you, maybe he should visit our local yahoo "Philippine_Airguns" group so that he can feel that we are not too much left behind just like what he is implying.

Boydlion - I've been to a lot of airgun competitions here in the Philippines,..Bulacan, Pampangga, Batangas, Las Pinas, Muntinlupa etc..what i'm interested is the information of those people from Cebu who were also into shooting..i was wondering to where i could purchase a barrel in Cebu City.

I pity this guy who wrote to an American that we dont have quality airguns here in the philippines, i am into airgun too, i've been shooting airguns for the last 24 years. Why dont you ask for JBC airguns.These fine guns shoot straigth, co2 guns has a 1/2 inch group at 40 yards, compressed air has a 1 inch group at 60 yards.These are fine and quality airguns just look for Jun Lacanlale and you can have an airgun that you are looking for..

imported airguns are quality airguns but in the phillipines custom made airgun more than quality. her in cebu we can guaranty(money back), we have the finest CNC made airgun, finest custom shop airguns @10k.mark
I am Jesse Atienza of Cavite, also an airgun enthusiast, I have two locally made cal.22 airguns, one is made by Estrella Parco, and the other one by Armscor. I'm quite satisfied with their performance, but still I want to try the other locally made cal.22 airguns, from JBC of valenzuela,Filarms and Mario Muli's airgun of Pasig.
