Shooting Again
It has been a very busy couple of weeks. My son has been with me for the past two weeks and between him and work they have been very hectic! I either haven't had time to write in my blog or have been away from my computer where I couldn't write in my blog. I hope that I will have more time to play with airguns and write in my blog in the coming weeks.
I finally got my DaveG target stock for my HW97 after waiting for 1 1/2 years for it. It turned out beautiful, I just wish I could have got it a long time ago. I chose a deep red stock ProHunter laminated stock and had Dave leave it unfinished. He put a sealer on it so all I had to do was customize it and put a finish on it. I ended up not doing any customization and just put 4 coats of Macarri London Oil finish on it. I used the Advanced Finishing technique to get a really deep finish and it turned out really nice. I look forward to getting my action mounted in it tonight and shooting with it over the weekend in preparation for the Good Ole Boys match next weekend.
A match stock adds so much to the shooting experience for the target shooter. My new stock has the adjustable cheek piece and butt pad so I will be able to set it up to fit me better than my other two match stocks. I didn't get the adjustable forarm since I plan to shoot this rifle over the arm or standing. The ProHunter is fashioned after the FWB 600 series match rifle stock which I always liked. The feel of that particular stock has alwaya been good for me, especiallly for standing shooting. I am really pleased with the looks of my DaveG stock, I hope it shoots as well as it looks!
